Although anxiety and depression are both known to involve emotional abnormalities, there is a lack of direct evidence showing whether the neural activity underlying emotional abnormalities of anxiety and depression differ. We employed a pattern of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in which functional activation was scanned during the resting state and the same imaging protocol was repeated during emotional processing of facial expressions. To reveal brain activities in common in both anxiety and depressive disorders, we compared the correlation of MRI signals in both anxiety and depressive patients with those of controls. We found that significant correlations were found between the anxiety patients and controls in the bilateral occipital and left prefrontal cortices, and between the depressive patients and controls in the left prefrontal and right occipital cortices. We also found that significant correlations were found in several brain regions between anxiety patients and depressive patients, namely, in the bilateral occipital and left prefrontal cortices, and in the right parahippocampal and precuneus cortices. These results suggest that the neural mechanism underlying the emotional abnormalities in anxiety and depressive disorders is common.Q: Using an aggregate function on a sub-query I'm working on a query to return a list of orders where the last name in the address field does not contain any specific strings.
